Swapping out Your Seasonal Items

As warm weather approaches the first thing I like to do is swap out my seasonal clothing. In Kentucky, it can be tricky to time it just right. Either I am freezing because I put up my winter clothes too early or sweating because spring came faster than I expected. Whether you have clothes put in tubs or all in your closet you can still change out your closet seasonally.

For those of you that have all your clothes:

Take the time to move seasonally appropriate clothing to the front of the closet. As you are moving the clothing, take the time to declutter. Ask yourself, “when was the last time you wore this, will you wear it again, do you still like this piece of clothing?”

Then organize them by color and style of clothing, such as blouses, pants, casual, dresses, work clothes, etc. Think about what you wear most often and make that the priority in your closet. The items you wear the least should be in the back.

Also, don’t forget to declutter and reorganize your shoes. Toss the ones that are well-loved and beyond repair. Move the off-season to the back or top of your closet. You want to make getting ready as simple and quick as possible.

If you store your off-seasons in tubs:

Start with pulling out all the clothing you plan to put up, ask yourself, “when was the last time you wore this, will you wear it again, do you still like this piece of clothing?” Then set aside your piles.

Pull out the items you have stored in the tub and ask yourself a these questions before hanging them item in your closet. “ Did I wear this last season, do I still like this piece, do I have something similar that I like better?

As you put the item away organize them by color and style of clothing, such as blouses, pants, casual, dresses, work clothes, etc.
