Closet Organization Tips

How often do you find yourself saying, “I have nothing to wear,” while your closet is completely full? I am guilty of it as well. We spend so much time standing in our closet trying to decide what to wear and then get frustrated and end up wearing the same few pieces we always wear.

So let’s talk about how to organize your closet so that you wear more of what you have and get out the door quicker. (Yes it is possible!)

Declutter: Be honest with yourself. Will you ever wear that shirt or pair of pants again. If you have not worn them during the last season you probably won’t wear it next season either. I have a small closet so I declutter twice a year when I swap out seasons. I take that time to get rid of clothes that I did not wear that season and the ones that have been stored. As I am hanging the new season clothes up I ask myself, “Will I really wear that this season?”

Invest in good hangers. I love the velvet ones. They keep clothes from falling off and they save space.

Take advantage of the height the your closet. Rotate your shoes by putting the off season or special occasion shoes up high. I used these shoe racks this past week for a client but the container store has come great shoe bins as well.

Don’t over complicate your organization design. Color coordinating may be enough for you or you can break it up by the style as in long sleeve or short sleeve. Don’t get caught up in textile and prints. Make it easy to put back but also in a way that your can easily find what you are looking for.

Some of my favorite closet organization products:

Our Tall Shoe Box

Our Shoe Box

Our Men’s Shoe Box

Stackable Shoe Shelf

Non-Slip Velvet Hangers

Have a great week! We would love for you to leave a comment if you have any questions.
